There has not been much to get excited about at Arsenal over the summer, but the sight of Tomas Rosicky working his way back to full fitness is certainly a huge positive. The Czech international midfielder is known as 'Little Mozart' in his homeland, because of his incredible ability to orchestrate attacking play from midfield.
But since joining the Gunners in 2006 for a fee of £6.8m, things have not gone to plan. Rosicky, 28, has been seriously hampered by injuries - mainly to his hamstring and knee - to the extent that he has only made 37 league starts in three years.
The future is finally looking bright, however. Rosicky has been in full training since May, and is working hard during pre-season to show manager Arsene Wenger that the troubles are behind him.
Fellow midfield creator Cesc Fabregas is one man who can not wait to have the little Czech back alongside him.
"He didn't deserve his injury but I am sure he will come back stronger," Fabregas explained.
"Technically he is one of the best in the world and physically I am sure he will be really strong because he's been working really hard.
"I am happy because soon he is going to be back and I can't wait to see him playing again."
Arsenal face a traditional friendly at Barnet on Saturday and Rosicky should be able to play a role.
And it will only be through match action that Wenger will be able to decide whether his midfield magician is on course for the first game of the new term.
Either way, Rosicky is firmly on the comeback trail. And he will seem like a new signing to a club who are still refusing to splash big money in the transfer market.
