Throughout the 2009-10 season, FanHouse experts will name their Premier League Team of the Week based on their performances.

Here is the 2008-09 PFA Team of the Year to remind you of last season's key performers.

David James (Portsmouth) Will have turned 39 by the time he kicks off his 20th season as a professional in August. An utterly dedicated approach has ensured the England keeper simply keeps improving with age.

Bacary Sagna (Arsenal) Arsenal's defensive problems were well documented last season, but they would have been a whole lot worse without the consistent displays put in by the France international.

Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd) The world's best defender? Possibly so. Certainly worth his place in this stellar line-up after leading by example as United surged to their latest title.

Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd) Ferdinand's partner in crime, the Serbian enforcer is the bad cop to Ferdinand's good, and played a major role in Edwin van der Sar's record run of 1311 minutes without conceding a league goal.

Gael Clichy (Arsenal) What's that about an Arsenal defensive crisis? Clichy's impressive form sees the 24-year-old earn a deserved place to give the Gunners half the back line of this superstar side.

Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) One of the two players around who Liverpool will base their bid to end 20 years of title hurt this season. On his day, and there are plenty of those, Gerrard is simply irresistible.

Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal) What Gerrard accomplishes for Liverpool, so Fabregas does for Arsenal, and is perhaps even more pleasing on the eye as one of the Premier League's most technically gifted performers.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd) You never realise how important someone is until they're gone. United are about to discover the size of the void left by the new darling of the Bernabeu, and it promises to be considerable.

Ashley Young (Aston Villa) How does Villa manager Martin O'Neill reward the England international for such a superb campaign? He spends £12m on Stewart Downing as direct competition. Expect Young to rise to the challenge.

Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal) With a goal in almost every other of his century of league appearances for the Gunners, it's little wonder Manchester City were persuaded to invest some of their huge wealth in the Togo forward.

Fernando Torres (Liverpool) Just read the stats. The Spain international has scored 50 goals in 73 starts to put him alongside Steven Gerrard in terms of importance to Liverpool. No higher compliment can be paid.
