Team of the Week: Pompey Cup Heroes Lift South Coast Gloom

Portsmouth may be embroiled in the most miserable season in Premier League history but that has not stopped the struggling club's players turning in some outstanding individual performances.

A win at Burnley, just days after the club went into administration, was followed by a superb 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Birmingham on Saturday and, from many Pompey contenders, FanHouse experts have named two of those cup heroes to the Team of the Week.

French striker Frederic Piquionne has now scored four goals in his last three games, including both against the Blues as Pompey reached the Wembley semi-finals.

There, they may well face Tottenham and Jamie O'Hara, who is currently on loan from White Hart Lane, was instrumental in Pompey's quarter-final win with his performance in midfield.

Indeed, it was a weekend for the underdogs with Wolves, Bolton and Wigan - shock 1-0 winners over Liverpool last night - also featuring strongly in the team selected by our reporters.

Wigan's victory was the real stunner of the weekend and Charles N'Zogbia's man of the match performance wide on the right showcased his growing talents while team mate Maynor Figueroa did his burgeoning reputation no harm with his display at left-back.

From Wolves, right-back Ronald Zubar was impressive in his team's narrow defeat to Manchester United and Bolton's victory at West Ham did their chances of avoiding relegation no harm. Striker Kevin Davies got one of the goals in the 2-1 win and led the line with his customary workaholic effort and centre-half Zat Knight was so impressive that his manager Owen Coyle tipped him as a possible England defender - bearing in mind how frequently the stopper appears in our TOTW, that may not be too far-fetched.

Tottenham's solid season continues with a goalless draw against Fulham putting Harry Redknapp's side into the draw for the FA Cup semi-finals. Goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes continues his impressive season in keeping the clean sheet and is joined in TOTW by centre-half Michael Dawson.

Meanwhile, the TOTW is completed by two midfielders who helped their respective sides to comfortable victories. Everton's Mikel Arteta showed how much David Moyes has missed his talents this season in a 5-1 stroll over Hull while Samir Nasri was the mastermind of a 3-1 Arsenal win over Burnley which should have been by a far larger margin.
